Guide to Picking your Starting Legends for New Players™ Soccer Spirits Reborn *Updated March 2021

Colosseum of Despair (CoD) is a weekly (reset) PvE content in Soccer Spirits.
There are 50 floors that you need to clear for the rewards.
It is also the main source of crystals in Soccer Spirits REBORN so
Crystal is the resource that you will need, to draw legends / new SR players.
There are 5 types of rewards from playing Colosseum of Despair (CoD):
*You can also check the rewards from the playlist of CoD clear videos in the link below:
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvWweiOI3-1CoxpcFqZuIwodPUkCgIl-C
Based on the officially announced Soccer Spirits schedule, a legend will be released every 2 months so CoD will provide you with 5,560 crystals income.
With these crystals, you can get the new legend at a guaranteed rate of 100% with 7.500 crystals from pickup draw when it's newly released.
*Of course you won't really need 7,500 crystals to draw the new legend unless you are really that unlucky
So if you really do play the game conscientiously, you will eventually get the resources to climb to the top of the game.
Soccer Spirits REBORN is a game that rewards the hardworking players.
There are only 4 letters needed to explain how to clear CoD:
The 4 letters are the abbreviation of one hit KO or one shot KO.
This means you are supposed to only take 1 shot to kill enemy goalkeeper.
Can't we use other strategies to do CoD except OHKO?
The answer is yes but any other strategy is less efficient and more time consuming.
As human beings, surely we will only focus on the most efficient option when all other options are significantly less desirable.
From my personal experience of doing CoD, there are a few types of OHKO:
And of course there used to be floors which you cannot OHKO but that's not relevant atm.
The 4 main types of OHKO used for the current CoD season are:
Each type of OHKO will be discussed in details below, relative to the current CoD floors.
But before that, I would like to speak about the reasons why and how the CoD evolved over the years into an OHKO content.
Colosseum of Despair was one of the earliest content in Soccer Spirits when it first started in 2014.
It has evolved greatly over the years and towards the current OHKO meta.
In 2014, when it first began, beating CoD 50 (max) was something that only few people could do.
CoD strategy at those days were not exceptionally difficult but the barrier of clearing is mostly on getting the tools required (uniques, superbs, special training etc) because they were very hard to obtain.
Even towards the beginning of 2015, that was almost still the case but more people were clearing CoD 50.
The main reason being, the high difficulty of obtaining the materials have caused the game population to drop greatly and the developers eased the difficulty and in turn, more people were able to clear CoD and eventually, top 50 CoD became a score battle (just clearing CoD 50 was not enough).
And to get the best score, quick OHKO + lots of high level CoD champions was the way to go.
That basically formed the stagnant CoD meta (strategy) from ~2016 until year 2020 where Com2US took over Soccer Spirits and created SS REBORN and changed the CoD rewards.
Now, top 50 CoD became less of a competitive rewards race but more of honor and glory and the key rewards (crystals) are being rewarded based on your floors cleared.
In terms of CoD strategy, in the beginning, there were many so called 'cheese' strategy or I would say creative ways of clearing CoD which the original BB developers disapprove of.
From 2014 to 2016, there were the (including but not limited to):
*All of these were eventually nerfed and they don't exist now anymore except the Sharr OHKO which the BB developers approved of.
Any 'cheese' strategies that they didn't approve of, the Bigball (BB) developers basically nerfed them all and during those days, SS was kind of at its peak and the BB developers don't give reasons for what they nerf, & they do whatever that they want and they don't really care about the unhappiness from their player base.
And of course, Apocalypse and many other content creators for Soccer Spirits were the accomplices of such attitudes from the developers since we were the people helping to boost this game that we all love. Eventually as Bigball continued with their complacent and almighty attitudes, most content creators left and look at where they (Bigball) ended up now.
Back to the topic, Sharr OHKO was the only CoD strategy left since early 2016 and it went on for almost 1+ years and everyone complained that they were sick and tired of Sharr OHKO-ing everything.
Hence, the Bigball developers released the almighty legendary striker, Miri to replace Sharr and that began the downfall of Soccer Spirits.
But back to the topic again, the developers also did try to change CoD strategy from OHKO strategy to other strategies but as mentioned above, any other CoD strategy besides OHKO, is definitely going to be more time consuming and less efficient. And in those days, CoD score was an important factor so top players will try to bypass whatever CoD strategy that is required by using the casino ravian OHKO strategy which resulted in displeasure and unhappiness, due to the much increased RNG.
The aftermath of these displeasure and unhappiness was reflected in the top players leaving the game, lowering of the game revenues and eventually, the developers felt the pain and they conceded. Because of that, since year 2017 ~ 2018, CoD strategy never changed beyond OHKO despite every CoD remake.
Bringing us back to the current CoD, although the content current conditions might be different, the desired outcomes, for the developers, are still similar.
Otherwise, it defeats the purposes of the remake of the game to make entry into the game more friendly for beginners.
Player base is already low and making CoD more time consuming (changing the OHKO strategy) will be a risky manoveur for the developers as it risks displeasure from the player base and risks further drop of the player base.
Hence, here is just to share with you, newer players, some background of the CoD over the years.
Now let's go back to the guide, describing the various CoD OHKO strategy in details.
New players are always wondering how to start the game and mastering the Colosseum of Despair is the best way to start the game.
There are a few reasons for this:
Hence, once you mastered the OHKO strategy, it's very versatile and will help you in multiple game contents, to build a strong foundation and to go further in the game.
The OHKO strategy is basically a test of how much damage you are able to do, relative to the max ceiling of damage in the game itself.
You might be wondering, how do we know what the damage ceiling is? That's something that you will find out when you truly mastered the OHKO strategy.
Based on our estimation, to defeat the current Colosseum of Despair (CoD), you will need to be able to deal around ~60% of the maximum damage possible in the game. I am personally doing ~80% of the max damage without optimization and possibly ~85% if the best stones and suits are used. In terms of arbitrary numbers, the max possible damage could be like ~32,000 and the late CoD GK are around ~19,000 HP and I am doing around ~25,000 damage.
For starters, we always start with the normal forward pass OHKO strategy.
This can be used for the current CoD season (March' 2021) for floor 1-40 (except floor 36).
If you do not have any of the legends below, you can check out the (no legend used) CoD floor clear playlist below:
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvWweiOI3-1CoxpcFqZuIwodPUkCgIl-C
The above formations are for maximum damage. But as mentioned earlier, the required damage to OHKO and complete the whole CoD is at around ~60% of what's needed.
Hence, there are a lot of room for adjustments to the OHKO formation, based on spirit needs, speed requirements, reflex requirements etc.
Therefore, you will see many different OHKO formations out there but for maximum damage, the above 2 are pretty much the standard.
Change of CoD strategy is only required when:
As mentioned above, floor 36 cannot be done with the usual normal forward pass OHKO strategy.
This is due to the existence of an interceptor (NoNo).
Hence, we switch to the Mid Reflex CA OHKO strategy (check video above).
There are 2 main variations to this mid-reflex CA OHKO strategy.
Besides floor 36, the current CoD floor 46 and 48 can also be cleared with the mid-reflex CA OHKO strategy (check spoiler for videos).
CoD Floor 48
The spirit drain OHKO strategy is used when you cannot OHKO due to a GK with a block active (goalkeeper).
We drain the spirit so that enemy GK cannot block.
And when a GK with block active cannot block, he is so much weakened that it's very easy to OHKO.
Spirit drain is usually carried out by an attacker, who helps to bring the ball to the front as well.
Recommended spirit drain players are:
The perfect examples will be CoD floor 41, 42 & 45 in the videos below.
As you will see from the video, the formations are vastly different, and I will briefly explain the strategy for the different floors in each video.
For floor 41, Hildegard dies due to the high reflective damage when she gets critted upon so the formation is mainly based on providing Hildegard with the critical resistance that she needs. Penetrate a few times, spirit drain & OHKO easy.
For floor 45, enemy speed in the mid is fast and if the enemy moves once, your mid spirit drain penetrator could be dead. Also, you will need big damage to penetrate through the Yeo Jung. Hence, focus is on speed for your assist and damage + speed for your penetrator.
And finally, when do we use the long range shoot strategy?
The main purpose of the long range shoot strategy is to bypass the block active of enemy goalkeeper (GK).
Due to the nerf on long range shoot in Dec' 2020, this long range shoot OHKO strategy has become less effective.
However, it's still preferred over the spirit drain OHKO strategy if you can OHKO due to CoD scoring reasons.
Mastering the Colosseum of Despair (CoD) is where any new or returning players should start from.
By mastering CoD, you will slowly learn and understand the mechanics of dealing damage which will help you in all of the game content.
Nobody likes long matches for repetitive content and hence, OHKO will always be here to stay.
What about the other OHKO strategies that was mentioned but not yet discussed?
*You can discuss the other OHKO strategies mentioned, within the community, as they will not be discussed in details in this guide because they are not the most efficient CoD strategy at the moment.

Forward pass OHKO, Mid CA OHKO, Spirit Drain OHKO & Long Range Shot OHKO
Each type of OHKO will be discussed in details below, relative to the current CoD floors.
But before that, I would like to speak about the reasons why and how the CoD evolved over the years into an OHKO content.
Brief History of the CoD (Colosseum of Despair)
Colosseum of Despair was one of the earliest content in Soccer Spirits when it first started in 2014.
It has evolved greatly over the years and towards the current OHKO meta.
In 2014, when it first began, beating CoD 50 (max) was something that only few people could do.

Timeline of CoD strategy
In terms of CoD strategy, in the beginning, there were many so called 'cheese' strategy or I would say creative ways of clearing CoD which the original BB developers disapprove of.
From 2014 to 2016, there were the (including but not limited to):
- Kei GK solo-ing the whole CoD 50 floors (which resulted in his damage nerf eventually)
- Healers' active + OHKO or 2HKO
- Infinite Uriel & infinite Milky Way
- Jeunese + Mariel Cheese
- 96% DR infinite Bell front
- Casino Ravian (nerfed multiple times (2015~2016) for few years and eventually rebuffed back in 2018)
- Sharr OHKO
*All of these were eventually nerfed and they don't exist now anymore except the Sharr OHKO which the BB developers approved of.
Hence, the CoD strategy meta was much influenced by what the BB developers desired and approved of
And of course, Apocalypse and many other content creators for Soccer Spirits were the accomplices of such attitudes from the developers since we were the people helping to boost this game that we all love.
Because the release of Miri didn't change the CoD strategy of OHKO but basically only changed the striker required, from a SR player that new players could easily obtain to a legendary that was practically unobtainable for most players at that time.
After some time, as the player base dwindled further, Bigball realized their mistake too and began the nerf of Miri (multiple times over 2017~2018) which backfired as well. P2P (whales) players felt that it was a bait and switch (you sell X, and after people bought it, you then change the product to Y) and over the next few years, BigBall continued to do the same thing with multiple other legends and their reputation dropped drastically where people who used to defend them, started to call them sneaky and their selling tactics scummy.

Because our complacent, high and almighty BigBall developers are starting to pay the price for their attitudes towards their community because the drop in player base and game revenues were finally closing in, on their bottom line and making them feel the pain of their arrogance.
Soccer Spirits, as a game with 6~ years of history, definitely there will be such stories to share about how the developers plan their content and how these plans develop over the years, which as players, it's helpful to understand the history of the CoD and floors' design processes involved.

Hence, here is just to share with you, newer players, some background of the CoD over the years.
Now let's go back to the guide, describing the various CoD OHKO strategy in details.
Mastering the CoD OHKO Strategy
New players are always wondering how to start the game and mastering the Colosseum of Despair is the best way to start the game.
There are a few reasons for this:
- Because it provides you with a good base income of crystals
- It allows you to hone your ability to deal damage through mastering the OHKO strategy
This OHKO strategy can be used in PvP, to allow you to progress through to platinum (w/ losses) or even diamond league.
This OHKO strategy can be used for Star Labyrinth quick runs as well.
Hence, once you mastered the OHKO strategy, it's very versatile and will help you in multiple game contents, to build a strong foundation and to go further in the game.
Having a basic understanding of the OHKO strategy is important.
Which OHKO strategy to use?
- You cannot OHKO due to enemy goalkeeper (GK) with block active
Change to > Long range shoot OHKO strategy or Spirit Drain OHKO strategy - You cannot get the ball to the front due to interceptors.
Change to > Mid reflex CA OHKO strategy or Spirit Drain OHKO strategy
As mentioned above, floor 36 cannot be done with the usual normal forward pass OHKO strategy.
This is due to the existence of an interceptor (NoNo).
Hence, we switch to the Mid Reflex CA OHKO strategy (check video above).
There are 2 main variations to this mid-reflex CA OHKO strategy.
- The right version is when your mid assist pass is much lower than your front assist and you need to use a speedy and high reflex mid assist for CA (counterattack) purposes.
Another reason is for CoD scoring purposes. - The left version is where you use 2 totems in the frontline, and use the mid assist to active pass to the striker for immediate OHKO.
Besides floor 36, the current CoD floor 46 and 48 can also be cleared with the mid-reflex CA OHKO strategy (check spoiler for videos).
CoD Floor 46
CoD Floor 48
When do we use the spirit drain OHKO strategy?
The spirit drain OHKO strategy is used when you cannot OHKO due to a GK with a block active (goalkeeper).
We drain the spirit so that enemy GK cannot block.
And when a GK with block active cannot block, he is so much weakened that it's very easy to OHKO.
Spirit drain is usually carried out by an attacker, who helps to bring the ball to the front as well.
Recommended spirit drain players are:
- Malcolm, Lucius, Hildegard
- Miho
- Pinol, Akimelia (used only if you let the ball drop to the backline, drain spirit & long pass for OHKO)
For floor 42, the main issue here is not the damage taken by Hildegard but the Milena in the backline moving faster than your assist. Hence, an IC assist is used and once again, easy OHKO.

Final Word
Mastering the Colosseum of Despair (CoD) is where any new or returning players should start from.
By mastering CoD, you will slowly learn and understand the mechanics of dealing damage which will help you in all of the game content.
Nobody likes long matches for repetitive content and hence, OHKO will always be here to stay.
What about the other OHKO strategies that was mentioned but not yet discussed?
*You can discuss the other OHKO strategies mentioned, within the community, as they will not be discussed in details in this guide because they are not the most efficient CoD strategy at the moment.
