Developer's Note - February 2019 Soccer Spirits
Hi, everyone! We’ve prepared a developer’s note in advance before the update to happen in February. In this note, we’ll be talking about our plans having monitored the last major update, and the direction the one in February will take.
<Planet League>
Let us start with the Planet League. In our plan for the November update, we originally thought, “Let’s add a new twist to existing gameplay!” However, we ended up changing that direction and adding features and conditions that ended up inconveniencing our users. We admit that we should have taken more time to consider the impact and develop the mode more.
The Galaxy Super League is considered PvP, but we do not consider “competitiveness” to be its main point. Thus, we created Planet League as a way to provide competition, but in a way that was different than Galaxy Live.
After two months of monitoring, we’ve concluded that the Planet League can function as its own game mode if we made proper improvements and modifications. From our latest survey about the Planet League, we’re delighted to see many comments from users that we also agree on.
That is to say, we’d like to improve the Planet League with a series of short-term and long-term improvements.
First, the period to calculate the parameters for Planet League matching has been extended, as we did on the Jan. 23rd patch. This should help players feel less pressure to climb quickly and relax the requirements to avoid users being dropped to lower divisions the following week.
Furthermore, we plan to have users be able to set up their defense buff during Sundays 7 AM PST/8 AM PDT – Mondays 7 AM PST/8 AM PDT (to be added in the Feb. update). During this period, users can choose a buff that fits appropriately with their team. With this change, the actual Planet League period will be changed to Mondays 7 AM PST/8 AM PDT – Sundays 7 AM PST/8 AM PDT.
If these kinds of short-term changes aren’t enough for users, we’ll also consider making long-term improvements. We’re considering on making a separate promotion and regulation system for Planet League, that is independent from Galaxy Super/Challenge League. However, at the moment it is just an idea, and may change once we see the results of the short-term changes in the February update.
In addition, a new feature to choose between the previous property and the new property of an Emblem’s Master property when changing it will be added.
We received more feedback and suggestions in the Planet League survey than expected. Thank you very much for your interest in the new mode.
<Februrary Update>
Before sharing more details about the update, let’s first take a look at the silhouette of the next Legendary player.

Moving on, let’s talk about the new club suits we’ve mentioned in the previous developer’s note. A new type of suit skin will be added as a Club Match reward to honor the Top 3 Clubs. As a theme, Club Matches will now have official sponsors, and the suits have been designed to fit the theme. This year’s official sponsor is Heaven’s Gate.
The new suit skin will be rented to Clubs once the Club Match result is tallied and the next Club Match result tally starts (from pre-season to next pre-season). After the update in February, the entire results of the Club Match in 2019 will be tallied so that the Top 3 Clubs can keep the suit skin permanently.
In 2020, there will be a new official sponsor for Club Matches, and the suits will be designed to fit accordingly.

The Top 3 Clubs will also be getting bonus Club Scout Points as a participation reward. Furthermore, everyone’s favorite fairies – Yupi, Mong, and Desty – will be available as Club Scout Items.

We are also going to add a new property ban system. This system allows users to prevent an unwanted property from being an option when redistributing the properties of Spirit Stones. This new system was designed to improve the existing one, which we feel required too much luck when trying to reapply the property. Please note this system will only apply to Unique and Legendary Spirit Stones.
The Thunder fairy spot has been empty for a while now, but we’re finally introducing Daram. Daram will be an alternate currency in reapplying the Master Property to emblems. We’ve found out that users who focus on Emblems have quickly reached 5★ Emblems already, and have been working on getting good Master Properties. We hope this addition will be useful to everyone.

A new in-game event will be added. It’s a day-to-day team competition that will be different from the existing marble (dice) and bingo events. The accumulated points of each team are counted daily at 7 AM PST/8 AM PDT and the results will be shared with rewards distributed.

Let us continue as we share additional improvements planned for the update.
The grade table (Team Ability) will be updated. Since the upper limit of the Team Ability has been increased with Emblems, a new higher grade “G” will be added above the LLL grade. It will be applied to users who have a Team Ability of 28,000 or higher.
Manager dispatch missions will have their success rate and rewards adjusted. Notably, we’ll be removing 2★ manager rewards. Yupi, Mong, and Desty will also become possible reward options.
The visual effect of acquiring a Spirit Stone will be shortened.
The cost to evolve material cards will be modified.
The purchase button for a paid match for a Superb Boss will be made more intuitive.
A warning pop-up will appear when Battle Balls in possession exceed the limit when acquiring additional Battle Balls.
Finally, we’ll be taking the time to answer some questions from users.
We’ve received inquiries asking about the main and legendary property behavior of Prayer of Saint. These properties are applied conditionally when the match starts, but the system requires at least 1 second-real time to display the calculated value. Since matches are calculated in 12-second-match-time ticks, it might look like it’s not being applied during that brief moment before the first second.
To make it clear, Prayer of Saint is working properly, but the system takes time to display the effect in-game. We’ll be working to improve this display interaction to avoid such misunderstandings.
We’ve provided some reference images below to illustrate this matter:
1. Under most circumstances, it’s not possible to make the match time 00:00 (it’s at least 00:12 after the match starts). Thus, for the case of this scenario, we’ve randomly made Roina’s P1 skill to always be at 100% AB at the start of the match.

2. Prayer of Saint at +15 is equipped.

3. Roina’s action speed is 73 when the match starts.

4. However, after one second-real time, the action speed has been upgraded to 88 with the effect of Prayer of Saint.

5. The action speed has been increased, but the match time is still 00:00. Thus, the effect is working properly, but the display takes time to be calculated and shown.

We hope this clarifies the interaction, and as mentioned, will be looking into ways to improve it.
Another common question brought up has been legendary player balancing. We do have plans to balance, but will reveal more information in the next developer’s note in February as it is a rather sensitive topic.
That is all we have to share today. We’re working hard on the February update, and are also preparing for the 5th Anniversary update in May. We hope our efforts will bring a new and fun experience to our users. Please stay tuned for what’s to come in 2019, and thank you very much for playing Soccer Spirits.
Sincerely, The Soccer Spirits Development Team.
