Developer's Note - July 2018 Soccer Spirits
Greetings from the Soccer Spirits Team! We’re back again with a July developer's note.
In this developer's note, we'll be discussing about three things:
August Update
Ambiguous mechanics in the game
Illustration and voice replacement
Please check out below for more info.
<August Update>
[New Dark Legendary Player]
A new dark legendary striker, that many of you have been waiting for, will join the Galaxy League.
We would like to thank the Dark attribute users who’ve been missing out on the Legendary striker for so long, when this role is so crucial to victory. Here’s a silhouette of the new player:
[New Unique Stones]
5 new Unique Spirit Stones will be added. The names and images are shown below:
New Ardor Unique Spirit Stone: Iron Meteor
New Whirlwind Unique Spirit Stone: Artio’s Foot
New Thunder Unique Spirit Stone: Frozen Circle
New Light Unique Spirit Stone: Prayer of Saint
New Dark Unique Spirit Stone: Subordinate Trust
[Other Improvements]
Next, we’ll be talking about various other improvements.
We’re aware that users constantly remove and replace Spirit Stones in order to enjoy the various contents in the game, but may feel pressured due to the high cost this can result in. Thus, we’ll be improving on this cost in an effort to reduce the burden users may feel.
Furthermore, we’ll also be adjusting the Auto-Repeat feature by making it available to users earlier, and increasing the maximum limit at a time.
The cost to train players with materials such as Swirlies will now be fixed, as opposed to increasing with the player’s level. In addition, the Swirly Power-Up system will be changed. At the moment, there is a chance to succeed the Power-Up based on the materials used, and on a success, a random amount of stats is gained. We will be changing to an EXP accumulation method, so the value is fixed once enough EXP is earned.
The Galaxy Challenge League will also be improved. We’ll maintain the overall framework and style of this mode, but improve on the aspects where climbing the higher leagues can be difficult for some players, and the somewhat unappealing rewards.
We’ll also be improving on the way the Space-Time Continuum is arranged. The nature of the Rival Match, which is currently not popular, will be changed to a match where one can acquire EXP. Matches will also be separated into tabs according to their purpose. Furthermore, we’ll be improving the low amounts of Season Scout Rewards earned from certain Space-Time Continuum Bosses.
The events that are held through HIVE banners can often be inaccessible and inconvenient for users. Thus, we’ll be adding events that are held within the game itself.
Finally, we’ll be adding full screen resolution support for various devices.
This includes our plans for the August update.
<Ambiguous Mechanics in the game>
This is the new section of the developer’s note where we can guide users on ambiguous mechanics in the game that may seem like bugs. In this developer’s note, we’d like to talk about three issues.
1. In the scenario in which a player with Super Play uses Selective Penetration, the player will attack the target chosen via Selective Penetration on the second attack as well. This is not a bug (as users may expect to attack a chosen target via Selective Penetration the first attack, and then the original opponent on the second attack), but intentional when we decided to add Selective Penetration to the game to improve attackers.
For example, you have Lucius who is facing a Nabi. You wish to avoid Nabi and thus use Selective Penetration to target another player. On the first attack, you do not do enough damage to break the line. However, Lucius’s Super Play activates, and you get another turn. You will automatically face the player chosen via Selective Penetration again.
The intention of both attacks targeting the selected opponent is to benefit the attacker in avoiding their original opponent.
2. Metatron’s third passive skill, “Angel’s Light,” is able to recover HP when activated even after 36 minutes when the Supergravity effect would normally have negated healing to 0%. This is due to the stacking nature of the skill, and the healing is based on the time in which the first stack was applied on Metatron.
3. There’s an issue where Krishna under the A.I. will use her Active skill on the same target repeatedly under certain conditions. As we’ve kept this in mind in terms of balancing Krishna, we’re considering to improve this behavior as it may seem like a strange phenomenon to users.
<Illustration and voice replacement>
Lastly, we would like to tell you about the change of illustrations and voices in the game.
Back in April, it had come to our attention about some artwork and voices that are considered controversial – and we’ve decided to proceed in replacing them. Please understand time is needed as there has been delays in hiring alternative artists and voice actors.
We sincerely apologize to our users in having to go through this ordeal, but ask for your kind understanding as we move forward. Thank you.
<Ending the Developer’s Note>
Everyone in our development team is grateful to you, our users, for the support and encouragement shown from the May Major Update. We also appreciate the feedback and criticism you’ve shared with us on the new Legendary Player and the handling of balancing existing Legendary players that was added in the July update.
We’ll continue to do our best to better communicate with you all, and to provide a better gameplay experience.
Thank you,
The Soccer Spirits Development Team.
