First, let's look at the new star players:

• Penetration Power Aces (Armel, Elchitusa)
  
  Elchitusa good for OHKO PvP team > Gives Neraizel penetration power to steal for more damage and Shanti/Beatrice for OHKO
  
  Armel/Elchitusa > Good for their respective mono element; mono dark & mono whirlwind
  
  
• Goalkeepers (AU77 Glayde)
  
  One of the top PvP/PvE goalkeeper that is new-star (aka hard to get)
  
  Good for people who failed to draw her despite being boosted last weekend with thousands of crystals.
  
  
• Ardor New-Star
  
  Skip all. Just joking.
  
  Chundo is the only 5* with HP/critical rate debuff fixed totem, after Jin if I recall correctly.
  
  Worth getting, even for rainbow teams.
  
  
• Pinol (Spirit-Drain passive)
  
  Pinol works in a different way from miho where he drains spirit when enemy moves while miho drain spirits when she moves.

  Pinol is helpful in PvE, especially CoD 57 where he drains the spirit and prevents miho from healing.

  Lai Gayle has the potential to become highest pen power totem upon EE
  
  However, note that Lai Gayle will be boosted this weekend 19th - 21st May.
  
  Skip for the other 3.
  
  
• Altair 
  
  Thunder penetration power debuff totem upon action.
  
  20% DR & 40% critical resistance totem upon action
  
  Worth getting for your backline if you don't have duran
  
  Altair EE made her a power creep over Kevin to a certain extent
  

Conclusion (TL:DR)

For PvE, unique ability > others

Hence, I will recommend Pinol for his spirit drain in PvE.

For PvP, offense recommendation would be penetration power aces (Armel, Elchitusa) for your respective element.

For PvP, defense recommendation would be Altair/Glayde/Chundo.

For newer players, it can take a long time to scout the player you want.

Hence, you can consider getting Sharr for OHKO purposes for faster progress into the game or Glayde as your PvE GK.
