[Review] Developer Patch Notes for Major Patch 9th Dec
Today, we saw the release of this developer's patch notes early, 2 weeks before the major patch.

We will do a simple review of the developer notes and its impacts on our game.
This review will be categorized into a few sections:
1) New Content & Improvements
2) What to Buy after patch?
3) What to Do after patch?
4) What to Look Forward to?
5) The Impacts of Upcoming Changes on Current Content

New Content & Improvements
From the developer notes, we can see that most of the changes are positive, addressing some of the improvements that the community wanted.
Total of 9 new changes.
What to Buy?
Dark legendary GK vs Light legendary assist
What to Do?
Teamwork System Renewal:
Max Limit increased from 30 to 60 - more work needed to max your teamwork.
% HP boost reduced from 30% to 20%.
You get a boost to a random stat at 0 teamwork which can be rerolled when you reach 60 teamwork.
This means after the patch, we need to keep redoing teamwork until we get the right bonus stat for the player.
But it is more tedious now since we need to reach 60 instead of 30 to max our teamwork.
New EE materials:
Littres clover will be removed.
But now, we can max our players' clover via Whirlwind EE materials, Klaon.
Thunder EE mat, Sparky, can change weather immunity of players.
And some players do need to change their weather immunity for PvE content.
For example, double elaine strategy wasn't used for Yeon match because they didn't have soulgrave immunity.
Linmay wasn't able to recover full 3 bar spirits when forward passing too due to lack of soulgrave immunity.
Hence, this is one of the things to do, to set the weather immunity right for some players.
What to Look Forward to?
New Superb Bosses.
Impact of Upcoming Changes on Current Content
Ace Burst effect for PvP only, and new Lava weather that affects spirit stones in Club Match only
Ace Burst effect will double the effects of current mono-element aces (35% > 70%).
Hence, it will make mono-element team more powerful.
Currently, there are Reflex + HP mono aces for every element but this is not what we should be worried about.
Check this out:
Based on the above, the game will be very broken when ace burst effects arrive.
Therefore, try to reach galaxy league before the major patch hits. Good luck all!
The Review
From the developer notes, apparently, all the changes in the upcoming major patch seems to make it a positive major patch.
Currently, although we don't have the official data as players, we can also figure that the game population is in decline.
Maybe revenue is not affected that badly yet but a declining game population is the sign of a declining game.
So for the upcoming major patch, it's NO LONGER about whether if the changes are positive, negative, P2W,
We will have faster and better club match rewards and new Galaxy Live PvP content.
The question is, will these new contents bring players back and retain them?
Will these new contents make the game fun for players again?
The truth is, with no rewards, players might play live PvP with friends few times a week.
And due to disparity in cards strength, new players won't even consider doing live PvP since there are no rewards.
So it will be mainly an endgame players' content just for fun between friends occassionally.
Will it revive the game? Probably not.
Club match with better rewards. Will it make players feel that club match is worth doing now?
It seriously depends on how much effort it takes to get the better rewards.
Club match has already left a bad taste in most players so depending on the rewards and the efforts required, there could be 3 results:
The last result would be the best ofc.
Soon, we will have 3 fixed PvE content (CoD, CoT, Club Match) with rivals/bosses/superb bosses periodically.
+ 2 PvP content (Galaxy League PvP & Live PvP)
And apparently, Bigball plans are to continue their development of Live PvP which is in Beta version, for the next major patch.
This will probably lead to the continuation of the stagnation of the game at the current level.
Better content will be needed to revive the game and bring it to the next level.
We enjoy playing SS & We love the game. It will be sad to see the game stagnate but stagnation is still better than decline.
Overall, this major patch should be a good patch, an improvement to the game but more needs to be done.
Lastly, we would like everyone to note that the details mentioned in the developers' notes are not all.
Things such as CoD rework, unique scouting etc. were not mentioned, despite being announced in developers' interview.

New Content & Improvements

- New Superb Bosses & Managers
- Faster Club Match and Better Rewards
- New Evolution Materials to help players keep up with the pace of EE release
- Special Cards stacking (More lodging spaces)
- Teamwork System Renewal
- Galaxy League Live/Real-Time PvP
- Ace Burst Effect + New Environment/Weather
- Changes to Player Classification System (Classic > New Star)
Total of 9 new changes.
What to Buy?
Dark legendary GK vs Light legendary assist
- Details of both legends are not released yet.
But expectations will be that both will not have EE upon release. - Without EE, we would expect light legendary assist to be as good as the current Baltheon/Askeladd (Classic)
While dark legendary GK without EE should be as good as Angela/BT and able to be used to clear most content - When it comes to purchase, the chances are the Light Legendary Assist will be needed for OHKO PvE content in future.
While dark legendary GK might become the strongest PvP GK but PvE content are usually designed for normal 5* gk also.
Hence, if you are going for PvE content, light legendary assist is most likely to be a MUST-BUY and should be good for the next 2 years to come.
But it's yet to be seen if their non-EE can surpass the current legendary assist, Baltheon/Askeladd and normal 5* gk (Angela/BT).
And yes, we do not consider Jin for comparision ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
What to Do?

- Old days, at the peak of SS, when we login into game at daily reset, you can see public channels being full up to channel 16~17.
- Now, when we login at daily reset, channel populations are full up to 10~11.
So we can see that game population has declined by ~33% or more.

BUT it is more about whether if the upcoming patch can REVIVE the game, bring players back and retain them.
