Background of Rainbow Elemental 'Bug':
When it first started in 2016, rainbow elementals could be used for disassembling superb-ed legendaries and then feeding the disassembled copies back to the legends for +30 APU.
This is why some players have lots of +30 APU legendaries, so many that it feels abnormal.
Then in around late July 2016, Bigball / Com2US decided that it should not be allowed for people to do that; so they disallowed rainbow elementals to be used on legendaries.
In addition, as for 5*, disassembled copies from using rainbow elementals no longer retain their APU; meaning that they cannot be trained to the 5* character to gain APU.
This basically sealed off the usage of rainbow elementals to APU characters, both 5* and 6*.
Until around September 2016, a youtube video appeared where a SS player came up with a way to APU characters with rainbow elementals legitly, without hacking the game or anything.
And as explained in the video, he chanced upon the method when he was playing around with rainbow elementals and generously shared it with the player base.
I will describe the method briefly, all done in a legit manner, without hacking the game or anything:
So, basically, the game was designed such that when you train a disassembled copy with APU+0 characters to a normal character, the character will not get APU.
But somehow, when you train a disassembled copy to another disassembled copy, the character is able to gain APU+1. This was basically how it worked.
This is basically the 'bug' that lasted for close to 3 years that Bigball / Com2US is fixing with this patch.
Bigball / Com2US Course of Actions:
Now that we understand the background of the bug, let's take a look at the course of action that Bigball / Com2US decided.
For a 'bug' / 'exploit' that lasted for close to 3 years (~July 2016 to March 2019), their course of actions are:
Review on the Fairness of Bigball / Com2US Course of Actions
So, Bigball / Com2US allowed this 'bug' / 'exploit' to go on for close to 3 years before fixing it and banning players for their own mistakes with their game design.
Fair enough if they removed all the APU from everyone who made use of this 'bug' throughout the 3 years period but they DIDN'T.
They allowed players who made use of the Rainbow Elemental 'bug' from ~July 2016 to ~20th Dec 2018 to retain all the APUs.
From ~July 2016 to ~Dec 2018, no one can be certain of how many APU that people gained from this 'bug' / 'exploit, most likely in the hundreds and for some, even close to a thousand APU.
Why is there such a high estimate?
If you look at the official records, there are people who gained 108 APU in a period of 3 months.
From ~July 2016 to ~Dec 2018, that is around 29 months, so that would be around 900+ APU, that Bigball / Com2US allowed every other player who made use of this bug to retain.
This is of course not mentioning the APU that Bigball allowed players to retain on their legendaries, way before as mentioned in the background of this Rainbow Elemental 'bug', which will result in a greater amount of unfairness, resulting from Bigball / Com2US negligence in their game design, allowing this to go on for close to 3 years.
My Personal Views - Is this Legit?
There are a few factors that I will consider.
Taking into consideration both factors, the fact that the developers announced that this is an 'exploit' 3 years after it existed, all I can say is, the foolishness of the developers is disheartening.
Their game is already dying and yet, they are continuing to disappoint their player base further, with their half-hearted, unfair course of actions as explained above.
Looking at the Player Responses:
Conclusion
In this final statement, I would like to bring everyone back to the times when Soccer Spirits was at its peak.
And now? Bigball / Com2US developers are banning players for their own mistakes, for their own bad game design!
Those were the days when Soccer Spirits was at its peak. Chat channels were filled up to ~25 and now? You will be lucky if you don't land on channel 1 when you enter the game.
And people are wondering, why is this game dying? So now, tell me, why is this game dying?

At least that was what everyone thought.
- Disassemble the FSPU character using a rainbow elemental
Obtain 5 disassembled copies. - Feed one disassembled copy to another disassembled copy, resulting in a character with SPU+1, APU+1
Disassemble the SPU+1 character, resulting in a character with SPU+0, APU+1 and the disassembled copy with APU+0. - Repeat and you will get 4 characters with SPU+0, APU+1 and the final disassembled copy with APU+0.
So, basically, the game was designed such that when you train a disassembled copy with APU+0 characters to a normal character, the character will not get APU.
But somehow, when you train a disassembled copy to another disassembled copy, the character is able to gain APU+1. This was basically how it worked.
However, unlike the initial method where you get 5 APU for 1 rainbow elemental, doing APU this way, you get 4 APU for every 5 rainbow elementals.
This is basically the 'bug' that lasted for close to 3 years that Bigball / Com2US is fixing with this patch.

For a 'bug' / 'exploit' that lasted for close to 3 years (~July 2016 to March 2019), their course of actions are:
- To withdraw the APU and ban players for 15 days who made use of the exploit for the last 3 months:
~20th Dec 2018 to ~20th March 2019 - To allow players that made use of the 'exploit' from
~July 2016 to ~20th Dec 2018
To retain the APU of their characters and not receive any punishments while rewarding them with 20 Yowus
together with players who did not make use of the exploits.

They allowed players who made use of the Rainbow Elemental 'bug' from ~July 2016 to ~20th Dec 2018 to retain all the APUs.
This is UNFAIR to all other players.

My Personal Views - Is this Legit?
There are a few factors that I will consider.
- First, of course, there is no hacking involved.
This is basically bad game design on the end of the developers.
Players use the game functions legitly and resulted in an 'exploit'. - Secondly, the developers allowed this to go on, for close to 3 years !!
Initially, people might think it could be a bug but as time goes by, 3 years !! People would be thinking, maybe it is actually designed to be this way, such that only the veterans would figure this out; it's like a secret method.
As you can see from the responses, most players are dismayed that nothing is being done to players who made use of the 'bug' before the 3 months window, allowing them to retain up to 1000 APUs.
Also, some players are disheartened that nothing is being done to hackers, that are hacking the game to win;
Instead, the developers choose to continue to ignore what players want to be fixed / done but instead continue to undertake actions that disappoint their player base.

Conclusion
In this final statement, I would like to bring everyone back to the times when Soccer Spirits was at its peak.
The developers were apologizing for their bad game design, compensating players for every mistake that they made.
